Nonaka-Hill Kyoto is pleased to present Takeshi Honda’s charcoal drawings alongside Tomoko Obana’s sculptural arrangements of wood-fired ceramics. Both artists have built studio repositories from which to select and develop their artworks; Honda photographically records his long walks in the mountain from which he painstakingly copies dense forest images, while Obana collects and replicates vintage bottles in various clays to compose her highly calibrated assemblies. The works coalesce with sooty surfaces, earthy tonalities, and a sense of wintertime serenity.

Nonaka-Hill Kyotoでは、本田健による木炭画と、尾花智子による薪窯で焼成された陶器の彫刻的アレンジメントを展示いたします。両名のアーティストは、それぞれの作品制作において基盤となる素材アーカイブを構築しています。ホンダは山中を長く歩きながら写真を撮影し、それをもとに密集した森の風景を丹念に描き起こします。一方、尾花はヴィンテージボトルを収集し、さまざまな粘土でそれらを再現し、高度に調和したアセンブリーを作り上げます。両者の作品は、すすけた表面、土っぽい色合い、そして冬の静けさを感じさせる雰囲気と共に融合しています。
